Our First Weekend

My allergies continued for the next day or two. We knew we had to clean our bedroom if I wanted to get any better. On Friday evening I nuked them with Zyrtec, Claritin D (for the congestion), Benadryl and Nasonex. Saturday morning I woke up a little better, but drained from so many intense days feeling sick and tired. I hadn’t been sleeping well because I kept getting the sensation bugs were falling from the ceiling into our bed when we were sleeping. The swarming of huge flying ants into our bedroom didn’t help either. We had class in the morning and spent the afternoon cleaning our bedroom. Since our host family didn’t have cleaning products available (all they had to offer was a deodorant spray and a bug spray), we went to a store and bought something like Pine Sol. We moved everything out of the room and cleaned the hell out of it. We swept the floor and the ceiling, cleaned every surface, and mopped the floor. The place was spotless. I was feeling excited about having a clean room and because my allergies were getting better… but Max wasn’t feeling too great. He was excessively tired and started having stomach pain.

After a full day of work we walked to a bar in town with a group of trainees to celebrate our first week being over. The bar, which was called Mangosta was decorated like a stylish bar in the U.S. They offerred three kinds of national beers (Salva Vida, Bahia, Imperial), and one import (Corona). The music was all 80´s New Wave music such as Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears. We had a good time talking about everything that had happened so far.

Max and I had to head home early because his stomach was not cooperating.
